Good morning! I have fallen in love with this little boy, Caine and his arcade. I’m a little late to the party — as this has become quite a sensation already. But, I didn’t want any of you to miss it! Many thanks to my friend Beth for forwarding this short film. There’s so much here to feel good about — an enthusiastic kid, a supportive dad, generous strangers, and old fashioned creativity. Enjoy it!
{And if you cried… I’m curious if it was at the same point that I did. I’ll leave my “crying moment” down below in the comments and we can compare}.
Caine’s life has changed quite a bit since the film’s release. A scholarship fund for Caine, and a foundation to fund creativity and entrepreneurship in other kids have gained incredible momentum. And, he has inspired kids all over {including Jack Black’s} to start designing their own cardboard arcade games. I don’t know you, Caine, but I’m so proud of you.

So, I cried when Caine crawled into the box to push the prize tickets through. For me, that embodied his wholehearted belief in what he was doing. Not many of us believe like he does!
And the other reason I cried; is that I also have a little boy (now a big boy) whose brain is constantly thinking and scheming about how to build cool things. I once “received” a valentine that was a gigantic cardboard box with a plug coming out of it. When plugged in, it lit up and said “Love you to the moon.” (Hard to put into the file folder of special cards…). It was one of many times that something that could be simple has been made more complicated — and also more wonderful.
Hudson is a “do-er” like Caine is. I haven’t always been as patient as Caine’s dad about the whole production — as having a kid like this can sometimes be extremely inconvenient. But when I have been able to let go and let his imagination take hold, it’s been quite something. Thus, the tears.
I got a little misty when George said, “He’s really proud of his shirt.” But I finally lost it when he was riding in the car, told George “no can do” about closing early, then began to smile when he realized there was a crowd in front of the store waiting to play his games. Too cute, thanks for sharing. I hadn’t heard about this.
Hi Gee Gee!
Yes, the fact that Caine didn’t get discouraged was incredible. {And that he didn’t get totally overwhelmed and shut down when he saw the crowd was, as well!} A lot for one little boy to take in. Thanks for commenting!

Oh, and I love the song.
